School Sites Up For Discussion

Introduction

July 9, 2008 Outline planning applications have been received by East Herts Council to build secondary schools on a new site in Bishop's Stortford.

The six applications also include residential development on the current sites and on the reserve secondary school site on Hadham Road — the site allocated for homes in our Local Plan if sufficient secondary school space is provided elsewhere in the town.

You can see copies of the applications at Bishop's Stortford Town Council in Windhill, the library at The Causeway and in East Herts Council's Hertford offices.

If you wish to comment on the applications, send your letter by September 19, quoting the reference numbers of the application, to Development Control, East Herts Council, Wallfields, Pegs Lane, Hertford SG13 8EQ.

The applications will be considered at a special meeting of the Development Control committee on Thursday October 16 at the Charis Centre, Water Lane, Bishop's Stortford at 6pm. It's a public meeting which anyone can attend.

You'll be allowed to speak at the meeting provided you've already commented in writing and have registered with the council by 5pm on October 9.

The six applications in summary are:

  • 3/08/1117/OP – applicants are the governors of Bishop's Stortford and Herts and Essex High Schools. Land at Whittington Way: construction of replacement and expanded secondary schools
  • 3/08/1102/OP - applicant is Countryside Properties. Herts and Essex High School, Warwick Road: erection of up to 125 residential properties

You can see more details on our website at Article details not available

These applications are outline which means the applicants are seeking to agree the principle of development and access issues only. If outline planning permission is granted, the applicants then have three years in which to apply for planning permission around the details such as appearance, layout, height, scale and landscaping.
