Reusable Nappies

Introduction

On average a child uses 4,500 nappies before becoming potty trained. Therefore, the type of nappy a parent chooses is very important.

Two percent of waste in an average household's rubbish bin is made up of nappies costing local authorities hundreds of thousands of pounds a year.

Modern reusables

Modern reusable nappies are very different from the traditional terry towelling styles. They come in variety of different sizes, colours and materials, and use fastenings such as: poppers, Velcro or Nappy Nippa's.

There are three main types of modern nappies:

Shaped – these have elastic at the back and round the leg helping to contain the waste. A waterproof wrap is then used over the top of the nappy. Shaped Nappy : Shaped Nappy
Birth to Potty – these are popular as they use different folds and poppers to fit either a new born or a toddler.Birth to Potty Nappy : Photo of Birth to Potty Nappy
All in one– these are more expensive than their counterparts as they have the waterproof wrap included. All in one nappy : Photo All in one nappy

To qualify for the scheme, you need to provide proof that your child is under the age of two and that you have bought reusable nappies.

If you would like to apply for the scheme, please contact us for a leaflet on 01279 655261 ext 3507 or email us. Alternatively, leaflets can be found in our Bishop's Stortford and Hertford receptions.
