District Plan: Part 1 - StrategyThis planning policy document will set out the vision, objectives and development strategy for East Herts to 2031. What is the District Plan: Part 1?Part 1 of the District Plan sets out the planning strategy to meet the needs of East Herts and its residents to 2031, including identifying the principles of development and where new development will be located. It was previously known as the LDF Core Strategy. What is happening now?The Council is currently working on preparing the preferred strategy or draft District Plan: Part 1 using the 'stepped approach'. Twelve weeks public consultation is expected later this year (2013) following agreement by Council. How is the plan being prepared?Preparation of the District Plan: Part 1 is not a one-off event. It is being prepared in stages taking account of the views of stakeholders and the community and based on national planning policy, technical evidence and sustainability appraisal: Awareness Raising - two rounds of public engagement throughout 2008 including what resident's like and dislike about living in East Herts Issues and Options - public consultation in Autumn 2010 that sets out the issues facing East Herts and a series of options for responding to those issues Preferred Strategy - public consultation on the draft District Plan: Part 1 expected to take place later in 2013 Submission - opportunity for the public to comment on the appropriateness of the draft plan Public Examination - by an independent Planning Inspector to check whether Part 1 of the District Plan is 'fit for purpose' Adoption - endorsement of District Plan: Part 1 by East Herts Council to be used to determine planning applications How do you rate this information / service? |
