Housing Help at Your FingertipsIntroduction(Article date: May 12, 2010) A new flow chart on East Herts Council's website will let people in temporary accommodation find out quickly about the right sort of help available to them. The web tool has been designed by the council to help people in urgent need, as well as those already on the housing register. People on the housing register can use the tool to quickly tell the council about a change in circumstance, request a housing application or medical form and find out about the Choice Based Lettings scheme. People can still get face-to-face help at the council's offices in Charringtons House, Bishop's Stortford and Wallfields, Hertford. Additional confidential meeting rooms at both sites now make it easier to discuss sensitive matters. Appointments can be booked by phoning 01279 655261 or there are drop-in sessions for a short pre-assessment every Monday between 9am and 12noon in Hertford and every Friday between 9am and 12noon in Bishop's Stortford. Councillor Bob Parker, Executive member for housing and health, said: "The new flow chart, created by the council, is an example of our commitment to make sure that people get the help they need as easily as possible. "It will be useful both for those needing advice straight away as well as those who just need to let the council know about a change in their circumstances or access a form. "It also highlights a recognition of the increasing importance of our website becoming a preferred source of information by residents." |
