Bre Global - BRE Global Limited is an independent third party approvals body offering certification of fire, security and sustainability products and services.

Communities and Local Government - Communities and Local Government have responsibility for Building Regulations. They also sets policy on local government, housing, urban regeneration, planning and fire and rescue.

Environment Agency - The Environment Agency are the public body responsible for protecting and improving the environment in England and Wales.

Health and Safety Executive - HSE's job is to protect people against risks to health or safety arising out of work activities. They provide information and advice, promote training and publish regulations and codes of practice.

Planning Portal - The Planning Portal is the UK Government's online planning and building regulations resource for England and Wales.

LABC - LABC is the member organisation representing all local authority building control departments in England and Wales. Contains information on the LABC New Home Warranty.

It is delivered by LABC via local authority building control departments. RICS - RICS members offer the very best advice on a diverse range of land, property, construction and related environmental issues. They help to set, maintain and regulate standards, providing impartial advice to governments and policy-makers.

Planning Portal - Interactive Guide - Interactive Guide to Building Regulations and Planning Permission requirements for common household projects.

Electrical

NICEIC - NICEIC is the electrical contracting industry's independent voluntary body for electrical installation matters throughout the UK. They run a competent persons scheme for Part P registered domestic electrical installers.

NAPIT - NAPIT runs a competent person scheme for Part P registered domestic electrical installers and host additional schemes to include plumbing, heating and ventilation.

Fire Safety

Fire Safety Law and Guidance Documents - links to guidance on the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and Fire Risk Assessments.

Fire Sprinkler Association - Fire Sprinkler Associates is a non-profit organisation providing support to the residential sector of the Fire Sprinkler Industry.

CORGI - CORGI is considered the leading authority for information on gas safety issues around the home. CORGI registration is a legal requirement for anyone installing or repairing gas fittings or appliances.

HETAS - HETAS is the official body recognised by government to approve solid fuel domestic heating appliances, fuels and services.

British Flue and Chimney Manufacturers Association  - The British Flue & Chimney Manufacturers' Association is Britain's only Trade Association for factory-made chimney products.

Energy Saving Trust - The Energy Saving Trust provide free, independent local energy saving advice.

Sound Insulation Guidance

Robust Details Ltd - Robust Details Limited provides a route to compliance for Part E of the Building Regulations (England and Wales). It may be used as an alternative to on-site pre-completion sound testing and is also recognised in the Code for Sustainable Homes.

Timber and Joinery

Timber Research and Development Association - The Timber Research and Development Association is an internationally recognised centre of excellence on the specification and use of timber and wood products.

The Trussed Rafter Association - The Trussed Rafter Association is the respected voice of the trussed rafter industry in the UK and provides technical information on the use of Trussed Rafters.

The British Woodworking Federation- The British Woodworking Federation is the trade association for the woodworking and joinery manufacturing industry in the UK. The BWF produces a wide range of publications to support its members and the joinery industry. Many of these are available as downloadable documents on this website.
