Introduction

The Executive, which comprises 7 Members including the Leader of the Council, is responsible for most day to day decisions.

 The Leader is responsible for appointing Executive Members and allocating portfolio areas of responsibility.  For further information view The Executive

Your councillors can take up issues on your behalf and are here to represent your community.

The 50 councillors who make up the District Council are elected by the community to represent the ward's interests. Each councillor serves for four years, after which elections are held.

The Chairman of the Council is  elected at the Annual Meeting of the Council in May.
