Introduction

You can pay your Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) by sending a cheque, sending your credit card details, taking cash to the council offices in Hertford or Bishop's Stortford, or using the council online payments system.

If you are paying within the first 14 days  of your PCN being issued (the day it was issued being day 1) you are entitled to a 50% discount.

As of 31st March 2008, there are now two levels of penalty charge.

The council online payment system does not directly integrate with the PCN system, and cannot tell you how much you owe, so you should check your PCN to see if you are paying in the discount period and how much the penalty charge is.

If you do not pay the correct amount, you may receive letters from the council, and the PCN may progress to the formal enforcement process.
