Grants

Introduction

The Council's Grants Programme aims to improve the economic, environmental and social wellbeing of people who live in East Herts.

Loft Insulation - Grants

The specific priorities for the Grants Programme are listed below. Applicants will be scored on the degree to which they address the following:

  • Helping the Council achieve its priorities, both Corporate Priorities and those in the pdf icon East Herts Together Community Strategy [547kb]
  • Delivering a project or service that is a need identified by people living in the area
  • Working in areas with relatively high deprivation
  • Working in geographic areas of the District which, in the past, have not been successful in obtaining grants
  • Being an application from an organisation that has not received Council funding in the past
  • Working with other community and voluntary organisations
  • Asking clients/service users what they think about the service provided
  • Involving local people in terms of donated voluntary labour
  • Targeting known excluded groups, from the following list:

    • people living in rural areas
    • people with a physical illness
    • people with a mental illness
    • older people
    • young people
    • ethnic minorities
    • people living in deprived areas
    • people with a disability
    • people with learning disabilities
    • unemployed people
    • people on low income
    • women
    • special interest groups

Grants are available for:

Community projects, events, health and social care services and activities

and

Individuals

East Herts Council can provide financial support to voluntary/ community groups (based in the East Herts area) for community projects, events and services in the East Herts council area.

Town and Parish Councils are only eligible to apply to the Local Environment Action Fund (LEAF) and the Community Capital Grant. Schools are only eligible to apply for LEAF grants.

The Council wants to grant aid those organisations and groups that cannot find funding anywhere else. The Council encourages all applicants to contact their local Town and Parish Council for funding.

To be eligible for a Council grant, your organisation must:

  • be a voluntary or community group serving residents of the East Herts District area
  • be financially viable and show evidence of properly managed accounts
  • have a real financial need for the grant
  • have an open-door membership policy and services must be accessible to all types of people
  • not already be in receipt of a grant from the same scheme.

Community Planning Grants - Capital

for small items of equipment.

Local Environment Action Fund (LEAF)


Open to town and parish councils and schools and voluntary groups that wish to protect and enhance the local environment. Contact David Thorogood, Environmental Coordinator, 01992/531621. This grant scheme is still open.

Community Revenue Grants


This is a small grant scheme, limited to small, local groups to help towards general running costs for a period of one year.  Grants are usually in the region of £300.  For an application form contact  Tracy Matthews  on 01992 531616   Closing Date was 28th May 2010.  For further information view Community Revenue Grants

Community Capital Grant Programme 2010


Physical improvements to buildings and open spaces in the East Herts area; and large items of equipment costing at least £1,000. Contact Tracy Matthews,  on 01992/531616. Charitable Rate Relief Scheme (Fund value varies)


Available to Registered charities and other non-profit making organisations. Contact Marian Dix on Wednesdays and Thursdays 01279/652116.  For further information view Charitable Rate Relief Scheme (Fund value varies)

Partnership Investment Fund

For match funding toward a grant awarded from the Lottery or other funding source to which you are applying.  Contact Claire Pullen  claire.pullen@eastherts.gov.uk for further information.

East Herts Local Strategic Partnership Implementation Fund.

Projects have already been commissioned for 2007/2008. Must contribute to themes identified in the East Herts Together Community Strategy Action Plan for 2007-2008

Holiday Festivity/ Christmas Parties


The Council can provide small grants for Christmas Parties or other seasonal celebrations involving older people or people with learning difficulties or other disabilities. Contact Pauline Tunnicliffe on 01279/502062

Historic Buildings Grant


Support is available to all owners of listed property in the district to help pay for the cost of repairs and preservation work only. Contact planning on 01992 531590  For further information view Historic Building Grants

Councillor Revenue Grants
