Grants Information

The Community Grants Programme helps to take forward the Council's aims in people, place and prosperity - promoting wellbeing and supporting the efforts of the many volunteers in East Herts.

Watton At Stone Play 2014

The purpose of this discretionary funding is so that the Council can facilitate improved health, sports and cultural opportunities and bring about positive change at the local level.  Through its 15/16 Community Grants Programme, the Council made 150 awards to voluntary/community organisations, parish councils and young people for excellence in arts and sports.

Areas of funding for 2016/17 include:

  • - Grants for running costs (for example hire costs, insurance, training for volunteers), community engagement and community events  - Apply for a mini grant of £200 or up to £1,000 for a larger project.  Deadline: Monday, 9 January 2017 at 5pm.

  •  - Community-led projects that improve well-used public assets.  Deadline: Monday, 19 December 2016 at 5pm
  • LEAF Grants - Community-led projects that protect and improve the green environment.
  •   This special scheme is geared toward helping 11 to 18 year olds resident in the District to achieve sporting and artistic excellence. Deadline: 27 January 2017

  • Silver Sunday Grants - CLOSED

  • Online Giving  - free subscription to Localgiving.com, a not-for-profit fundraising website.

The Council receives many high quality and worthwhile applications so please be aware that, regretfully, the Council is not able to grant fund all applications. If we are unable to help, there are many other sources of funding available, please see our list of  External Funding .

Important:  All applicants must obtain endorsement for their project from their local East Herts Councillor.   To find out which Councillor represents your area, please go to  Find your Councillor  and click on the "Write to Them" link.  Simply enter the postcode where your project will mainly take place and this will identify the Councillor who represents that area.
